The Fudan University National Center for Cultural Innovation Research (FUNCCIR) is a national-level research institute. As a cultural innovation research center, cultural strategy, think-tank, and talent training base, located in Fudan University, the institute was jointly established by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Fudan University.
FUNCCIR has formed a distinctive focus on comprehensive cultural strategic research and aims to be a leading national research institute with international influence as a national cultural innovation research base, a national think-tank on cultural development, and an international exchange platform on national culture.
Since its establishment in 2015, FUNCCIR has made strong contributions in research on cultural innovation, new media culture, digital humanities, cross-cultural communication, and research on the press release system. In academic publication, the center has published more than 40 academic monographs and more than 210 academic papers. The Centre's key research and publication plan won support from the 2022 National Publishing Fund.
The center has held many important international and domestic academic conferences, including the “International Academic Symposium on New Forms of Human Civilization and Cultural Development Strategies,” “International Academic Symposium on Cultural Innovation and Data Science,” and the “Carving a Roadmap for Human Civilization—— Chinese Discourse in the Genealogy of World Cultural Heritage" academic seminar, among others.
In international cooperation and exchanges, the Center has established extensive collaboration and academic exchanges with UNESCO, the China Committee of UNESCO, the National Humanities Center of the U.S., and with universities and research institutes in the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, and other countries, as well as with institutions in Chinese Hong Kong, Chinese Macau, and Taiwan.
FUNCCIR has established a Fudan team that works with the Press Release Evaluation Group affiliated with the State Council Information Office. The team conducted evaluation work for the press release for the 20th NCCPC (National Congress of the Communist Party of China).
The center has also initiated the formation of an Academic Research Alliance on New Forms of Human Civilization, together with 6 other top universities in China, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, and Zhejiang University.
